satcy, whose given name is Satoshi Horii, is a visual artist, programmer and interaction designer.,He has worked at Rhizomatiks since 2006. He studied Media Art at Tokyo Zokei University from 1998 to 2002, then completed the DSP course at IAMAS, the International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences, from 2003 to 2005.
At Rhizomatiks he provided technical direction for Scene 5, Future Restaurant, within the Japan Pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo, which won a Gold award for exhibition design. His work on the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 flag handover ceremony received the Grand Prix at the 2017 ACC awards. Perfume Global Site Project won the Grand Prize in the Entertainment Division at the 2012 Japan Media Arts Festival and an honorary mention at Ars Electronica. For the NIKE House of Mamba campaign he received a Yellow Pencil at D&AD for digital marketing and a Gold Cyber Lion at Cannes Lions, both in 2015. Between 2006 and 2008 he also performed as a VJ under the name tripon at events including metamorphose and Sonarsound Tokyo.
