Ryan Seslow is an American artist who combines applied arts such as drawing, painting and sculpture with new media, digital art and Internet art. He is also a graphic designer and professor who lives and works in New York. His work is often a visual representation of the distortions, missing sounds and communication struggles he experiences daily as a deaf and hard of hearing person.
Seslow began writing graffiti in 1984 and names the 1980s New York City subway graffiti movement as his longest running artistic influence. He started teaching in 2002 as a graduate assistant in his MFA program. By 2018 he had taught art, design and communication technology courses at CUNY York College, CUNY BMCC, LIU Post and Iona College since 2004. In 2014 he launched Encrypted Fills with RJ Rushmore, the editor of Vandalog, as a digital exhibition space and archive for work at the intersection of digital art and street art.
