Ryan Church (American, b. 1971) is a concept designer who creates vehicle, creature, and environment designs for film, television, and video games. Born in Long Beach, California, he graduated with honors in Transportation Design, with an emphasis on Entertainment Design, from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.,
After graduating, Church was hired directly by Walt Disney Imagineering as a concept designer, before George Lucas selected him as concept design supervisor for Lucasfilm.There he led vehicle, creature, and environmental designs for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.,He worked as a creature designer on Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, designing its tripods,and later contributed to James Cameron's Avatar and to J.J. Abrams's Star Trek films, for which he updated the design of the USS Enterprise.
Church also designed the Stealth Helicopters for Zero Dark Thirty and the Ship of the Imagination for Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, the documentary series presented by Neil deGrasse Tyson. He returned to the Star Wars franchise in 2013 as a concept artist on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and served as concept design supervisor on the television series The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka.His video game work includes concept art for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Dead Space, and Star Citizen.,
