Bio

Ryan Bell is a generative artist and front-end developer whose work spans fx(hash), Art Blocks, PROOF, Verse, and the Blind Gallery. His pieces have been shown at Art Basel and released across both Ethereum and Tezos, often exploring recursion, scale, and mathematical pattern.^, He has said that being early to new technologies and platforms has helped him extend his audience as an artist.

Sprocket Factory was directly inspired by Tyler Hobbs's Fidenzas and Dmitri Cherniak's Ringers. His first exhibition at Art Basel came through a collaboration with fx(hash), showing Dreamcatcher Forest, and he later exhibited Microgravity there as well. He has also incorporated AI-assisted tools into his practice, notably in Ephemeral Tides, released through PROOF. He cites Zancan, William Mapan, and Zach Lieberman among the artists who inspire his work.

In 2022, he contributed Perpetuum 1/1 to a tribute project for Herbert W. Franke, in which more than 60 artists released nearly 5,000 tokens across Ethereum and Tezos, raising over $461,000 in combined volume. Although fx(hash) is typically used for long-form collections with many outputs, he released Perpetuum 1/1 as a single edition, a piece singled out for closely channeling Franke's style. In January 2023, he released Hyper Drive: A-Side on Art Blocks, a fixed edition of 200 based on the mathematics of recursion. A snapshot of the canvas is repeatedly resized and redrawn, creating the illusion of infinite depth. A companion Hyper Drive: B-Side followed on fx(hash) on Tezos, using AI-based image composition to form the cross-chain project's second half. His work was also included among 137 artist credits in Collecting Art Onchain, a book and NFT project by Kate Vass Galerie documenting a decade of on-chain art history.^,
