RJ is a digital artist based in London, working in pixel painting and animated GIFs, rendering images in minimalist browser-based software and compressing them into the flattened, fragmented visual language of the internet and social media.,He holds a PhD in literary studiesand has made art across blockchains since 2021,drawing on myth, religious iconographyand literary texts as material for works about repetition, attention and devotion in digital life.
In The Consequences (2025), presented by Fakewhale on objkt.com, RJ rendered five Greek myths of transgression and punishment—Prometheus, Orestes, Tantalus, Actaeon and Icarus—as pixel-painted, looping GIFs, treating each myth as a self-contained behavioral system rather than a narrative retelling.Later that year, his exhibition Waste.Land at Galerie Met in Berlin translated the settings and characters of T.S. Eliot's poem The Waste Land into a series of digital paintings, paired with a collaboratively rewritten, LLM-authored version of the poem addressing digital-age disconnection.
In November 2025, his pixel painting The Lambs appeared in “(Land)scape”, a group show at Galerie Met in Berlin, where it borrowed portraiture's compositional structure while emptying out its subject, suggesting a figure suspended among symbols rather than connected to its surroundings. In Digital Devotion (2026), a sold-out release on objkt one, he replaced a crown of thorns with the cable of a computer mouse across three works built from the imagery of the Crucifixion and restaged a photograph of the Pope taking a selfie, using Christian iconography to ask whether devotion to faith and to technology have become entangled. The series draws on the writing of Byung-Chul Han and Pope Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, as well as RJ's own walk along the Camino de Santiago, where he limited his phone use.
Other series released through Galerie Met include Panoptic People and Watching Me Watching You.In Everyday Essentials and Glasses Blue and Green, he placed a pair of symbolic smart glasses within a still-life scene, alongside two flattened, minimalist renderings of the same wearable device. In July 2026, his exhibition “Society of the Spectacles” was presented at Glue Berlin.
