Bio

RiversHaveWings, publicly known as Katherine Crowson, is an AI and generative artist and AI researcher, who, with Ryan Murdock, combined generative adversarial networks with OpenAI's CLIP model to create some of the first openly available text-to-image models.^, With Ryan Murdock, she built creative notebooks such as BigSleep and VQGAN+CLIP that pushed the visual possibilities of CLIP-guided image generation.

Beginning in February 2022, she released a series of open-source diffusion notebooks under the RiversHaveWings name, including CC12M Diffusion, a text-to-image tool. In March 2022, she released CLOOB Guided Diffusion together with jd_pressman. In December 2022, she released Stable Diffusion KLMC2 Animation, an early animation tool for Stable Diffusion. Mick Grierson, co-founder of the Creative Computing Institute, has credited her with helping open up AI and machine learning art-making to a wider audience.

On Hic et Nunc, a Tezos-based platform, she minted a generative series titled Control The Soul alongside standalone editions such as Silk Spinning Beetle and Richard Nixon.
