Rick Kitagawa is a Pasadena, California-based visual artist, writer and executive coach who works across sculpted art toys, painted portraits and horror fiction. His portrait paintings mix abstraction with figuration, and his sculpted and enamel-pin monster figures draw on his love of horror and classic monster movies.
In 2021 he launched The Order of the Dark Wheel, an immersive, story-based NFT project released on Hic et Nunc, objkt.com and Kalamint. Its lore follows a cult trying to summon the Seven Who Feed, seven demon gods whose combined summoning would trigger a universe-ending prophecy known as The Doom. Individual demon characters were minted as NFTs on objkt.com and Kalamint in varying edition sizes, and catalogued by power level in an in-world bestiary on his site. The world he built has since expanded into the tabletop card game Cult Crafter and the tabletop role-playing game Sisters of the Dawn.
