Richard Chappelow is a UK-based interdisciplinary artist and designer working across abstract painting, digital art, music, and graphic design.,Drawn to NFT technology in early 2021, he began merging his interest in minimalism and graphic design with abstract painting, and adopted the moniker Bilnd for his digital art.
As an iPad Pro entered his toolkit, his graphic work evolved into abstract painting, and he later added traditional physical painting alongside digital work spanning painting, audio, video, and graphic pieces. His series Floral Works pairs iPad paintings, made in Procreate and upscaled with AI tools, with organic still lifes of emerging plants and blooming flowers observed outdoors as spring begins, aiming for a simplicity that lets the subject “breathe and speak gently, without distraction”.In It Is Isn't It, another digital painting series made the same way, he responds to a period of significant personal upheaval, moving through blue tones of structured daily routine, into vibrant reds and pinks of chaos and frenetic energy, and finally into lighter hues suggesting recovery and tranquility.
Chappelow has bought back his own past work across Ethereum, Solana, and Tezos as part of a strategy of selective reacquisition, treating minting as a way of establishing provenance and building an artistic timeline on the blockchain. His Wildfire series, ten pieces minted on Foundation, was released with no intention of selling, so that “I value what I create and aim to retain a significant portion of my output”.His work has been shown in UK cities including Leeds, Liverpool, and London, as well as in New York City and Hangzhou, China.
