Bio

Reza Milani (Iranian, b. 1981) is a photographer based in Paris who also makes generative, code-based art.^,^, On his artist profile, his photographs are described as minimalist, using few elements to connect figures with their natural surroundings, in a style the profile likens to a 1930s school that set pristine nature against live, organic bodies rather than Naturalism itself.

Milani held four solo exhibitions at Seyhoun Art Gallery in Tehran between 2010 and 2015: “Endless Bitterness” in 2010, “Torkaman Wedding” in 2011, “Childhood Sleep” in 2013 and “The Fifth Story” in 2015. He also showed the exhibition “Notion” at Cafe Mania Art Gallery in Tehran. His photography has received several awards, including an honorable mention at the 2010 Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris, a shortlist place in the Travel Photography category of the 2011 Sony World Photography Awards in London, and the Best Digital Photography of the Year award from Dubai's IBDA'A Awards in 2009.

Milani has also released generative and code-based work through NFT platforms.^, On Art Blocks he released the projects Prohibition, In which memory did you hide?, Do not touch my soul and Sonnets for loneliness. In March 2025 he released Spring Behind the River on the platform Gamma, an edition of 165 Bitcoin ordinal works generated by code to evoke seasonal renewal and transformation. In June 2024 he minted Les lettres que tu n'as jamais lues #990 on Rarible, a piece he said was inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat.
