Bio

REY (Mexican-Dutch, b. 1988) is a painter, illustrator and animator whose experimental work grows out of personal experience and a fascination with individual human expression. Born Pablo Esteban Sánchez Rijlaarsdam, also known as Reylarsdam, he began minting NFTs in February 2021.^,

In Oaxacan Sunset (2021) he described Oaxaca as the place “that has given color to my paintings”, and where he first learned to see art as “a true celebration of life”. His work appears on Art of This Millennium, a gallery specializing in contemporary digital art.^,

In November 2022 he released Oaxacan Comparsa through MakersPlace, an image of a traditional Día de Muertos parade at the church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in Oaxaca, with participants dressed as calaveras, or skulls. In 2023 he released CREYNIUMS, a generative collection of 6,900 tokens drawing on ancient mythologies. He has also worked in animation and music, as in GET REKT, a musical animation about gambling losses. ART (D)Evolution sold on SuperRare for 25 ETH ($97,728), and Wildlife Spirit for 9 ETH ($22,181).
