Rémi Forte is a type designer and generative artist based in Lyon, France.,He has worked as foundry manager at the 205TF type foundry and as a typography lecturer at Strate école de design.His practice spans type design, experimental poetry, programming and pen-plotter drawing.He has also pursued PhD research at Université Paris 8 on poetic programs and typographic systems.
For 205TF he created Krata, a generative, minimalist variable font made with Python that explores the boundaries of type design. His pen-plotter drawings were the subject of a solo exhibition, “Repère(s)”, in Lyon.In 2024 he took part in “Long Distance Drawing”, a group exhibition at Maison de l'Architecture in Amiens in which participating artists coded drawings that were plotted remotely, kilometers from where they were conceived.,He has also shown work in the group exhibitions “The Wrong Biennale”, held online, and at Mundaneum in Mons, Belgium, which explored the intersection of algorithms and literature.
His work has appeared in publications including Container, Slanted Magazine, Paper View Publishing and the French journal Revue Dire.,He has also taught workshops on generative design and constrained typography at schools and institutions in France and Slovenia.
