Refraction DAO is an artist-owned community that organizes digital art, music, and cultural events online, onchain, and in person. Founded in 2021, by December 2023 it had run 27 international events, minted more than 2,500 NFTs, and returned over $500,000 to its 700-plus artist members.
In 2022 Refraction DAO staged an exhibition during Art Basel Miami that included new video work by the Brazilian artist and filmmaker Kika Nicolela.That same year it presented Sweet Circle by Saeko Ehara, curated by Dina Chang and Malcolm Levy, at ZeroSpace in Brooklyn.In 2023 it hosted a rave in Paris during EthCC, with visual art curated by the artist Agoria.In late 2023 it partnered with the Tezos Foundation on an exhibition at Art Basel Miami's South Beach, where artists including Adaeze Okaro, Marcelo Soria-Rodríguez, and Che-Yu Wu showed work.,,
In 2024, at EthCC in Brussels, Refraction DAO hosted a party in a space that included a lounge designed by the artist Craig Barrow.In August 2024 it partnered on the release of DOM2, a generative artwork on fxhash pairing real-time visuals by Leander Herzog with audio synthesis by Milian Mori.That December, together with DIG Shibuya, it presented a video work by Saeko Ehara on the LED screens at Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, curated by Genki Nishida with music by Shuta Yasukochi.In February 2025 it curated the “Ledger 106 Experience” in Paris ahead of NFT Paris, an immersive show combining generative art and electronic music. Featured work included pieces by Kim Asendorf, Linda Dounia, and Agoria, alongside a 132-piece mosaic by Emily Edelman and a live-coded installation by Leander Herzog.
