Recollapse is an Indonesian artistwho draws densely detailed, surreal scenes filled with exaggerated human, animal and invented figures, often imagining entire cities complete with dwellings, roads and characters.Working mostly on paper, they scan finished drawings as is and sometimes add animation.
One such city appears in Rollercoaster emotion, a scene filled with giant and ordinary-sized humans, a family of bears, and a colony of penguins riding a rollercoaster. Recollapse captioned the piece “Overwhelmed by uncertain events, the mind always spins in a difficult direction, affecting emotions in the soul”. Moonsoon revisits some of the same characters from a different vantage point and introduces new figures, including a bear-headed woman and a costumed character declaring “I don't hero, but I said I≠War”. For that piece, Recollapse wrote the caption “It feels like a new moon has come some people will devise a plan that may be defeated by circumstances, something stifling and meaningful”.
In 2024, Recollapse's work appeared in Fakewhale's ART MARKET Day, a release of new pieces by more than 60 artists that went live simultaneously on Objkt.com on October 9th.
