Bio

Rahul Iyer is an artist who makes generative art released on Art Blocks.^, His 2023 collection Semblance is an interactive edition of 185 unique artworks that let viewers toggle each piece between a private and a performative self, a tension he has traced to growing up as an Indian-American in Atlanta.

Iyer reimagined weavings and textiles from his childhood home in Semblance, depicting the pull between displaying a private self as liberation and performing a public one as a form of suppression. Art Blocks Presents released the collection on July 11, 2023,^, with each work responding to a key press that switches it between the two states. In 2024 Iyer released Roll Some Bones through Art Blocks Studio, an edition of 250 outputs that questions the nature of authorship in human-machine collaboration and how the blockchain immortalizes the consequences of chance, including accidents and unforeseen outcomes.
