Rafael Spif is a digital artist who makes portraits with distorted or obfuscated faces, suggesting that the individual behind each face matters less than the idea it carries. In It seems important to be silent, one such portrait focuses on a subject's eyes while the rest of the figure is rendered as a loose amalgam of strokes. The piece relates to any woman whose perseverance and survival has depended on staying silent. In 2025 Rafael Spif's work appeared in “REFLECTING SKIN”, an online group exhibition curated from the zardoz.club collection in which twenty artists used cameras, 3D modeling, data corruption, generative code and AI to explore how the human body is transformed once digitized.
