Bio
Rachel Rose (American, b. 1986) is a visual artist known for video installations. Her work explores how our changing relationship to landscape has shaped storytelling and belief systems. Her films incorporate collaged filmed and found footage, along with audio and image distortion.
Rose conducts in-depth research before producing her films. Her subjects have included cryogenics, 17th century agrarian England, the American Revolutionary War, modernist architecture and the sensory experience of walking in outer space. She generally spends about a year on each piece. Her exhibition designs use shimmering surfaces, ghostly screen backs and absorbent tunnels to instill a sense of disorientation.
