r0zk0, also credited as Chris Egli,is a generative artist whose practice he describes as “generative minimalism”.In August 2022 he released Avalon on Art Blocks, a collection of 208 generative maps of imaginary places inspired by vintage textbooks and antique map collections.
In June 2022, ahead of that release, his work was included in “Immutable”, a GEN.ART residency exhibition at Vellum LA in Los Angeles, alongside generative artists including Nadieh Bremer and Alexander Reben.Each map in Avalon sits on a virtual globe and shifts through a 12.5-hour tidal cycle based on a simulated lunar orbit, updating every two minutes. Collectors can interact with their maps directly, using on-image commands to toggle labels, switch between colored and monochrome versions, or render a high-resolution image. Its title refers to the legendary island where King Arthur is said to be buried, and each of its 208 editions corresponds to one sovereign state.
