Murphy holds a BA in photography from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and worked as a graphic designer and a product photographer before starting Pretty Bad Co. full time, beginning with t-shirt designs and later expanding into pins and patches. Murphy began minting on Hic et Nunc after being introduced to NFTs by adhd, a member of the band Circa Survive who was already active in the space.²

In Murphy's own words, Pretty Bad Co. is “a streetwear brand, a pin and patch brand, an art brand, a fashion brand, an apparel brand, a t-shirt brand, a personal brand, a social community”.² Work has also been released on platforms including Foundation, objkt.com, and OpenSea.³
