Polygon1993 is a French visual artist, film director and media scenographer based in Paris. He works primarily in glitch art, using circuit-bent analog video equipment from the 1980s and 1990s to distort source footage and imagery into fragmented, glitching portraits.,His work treats analog imperfection as a creative force, revisiting nostalgia, depression and loneliness while chasing what he calls the beauty of the breakdown.
A devoted collector of Japanese arcade games, trading cards and retro consoles from the 1990s and 2000s, he draws his aesthetic directly from that world, giving his work a distinctly French take on Japanese pop culture. He has said he spent about a decade working as a freelance artist before co-founding the French artist collective SOMA, which let him exchange ideas with other creators. His process usually begins with a single lead piece that sets the direction for a diptych or triptych within a larger series. He has said the music he listens to while working directly shapes the colors of each piece. He is drawn to the gamification of art, incorporating mechanics such as burn-to-redeem into his drops, an approach he traces to growing up collecting trading cards and playing video games.
In 2024 he launched Phantasm TCG, a physical and digital trading card game developed with about thirty artists that uses rock-paper-scissors mechanics, rarity tiers and special God Pack editions. In 2026 he presented “Koi No Yokan”, his first solo exhibition in France, at Artverse Gallery in Paris, curated by Brian Beccafico.,The show reinterpreted Japanese pop culture of the 1980s through the 2000s, including manga, video games and trading card games, through his own outsider lens. It brought together large-format prints combining UV printing, relief and texture, a new 300-piece unique animated NFT series, and Phantasm TCG. The exhibition also featured a four-handed collaborative artwork with Mitsuhiro Arita, the Pokémon illustrator, in what was described as Arita's first collaboration with another artist.
He has created work for musicians including A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala, Grimes and Charli XCX, and for brands including Pantone, Sony Music and Warner Music.,In 2022 his collaboration with Pantone was presented at SXSW in Austin and at ARTECHOUSE in New York. His work has also been exhibited in Tokyo, Seoul, New York, Lisbon, Rome and Miami, including a run of gallery shows in Tokyo under the title Shin Sekai in 2024.,
