Plural Use is a video and sound artist working under the tagline “Video Feedback Gif Art”, exploring the visual world through electronic processing to reveal what is not visible to the naked eye. The name signifies both creative reuse and the plurality of all things: the practice manipulates built and found electronic equipment, much of it purchased used, defective, or broken, to generate light and sound in the digital realm.
Central to the practice is a Panasonic AG-MX70 video mixer, whose built-in wipe effects and multiple feedback sources generate looping video works such as Star Power and Power of Love. Plural Use also assembles modular video and audio synthesizers by hand, including a Cadet III video input module from LZX Industries and a custom analog synth begun on January 1, 2020.
