Pizza Punk, the working name of Jérôme Mercier, writes code in JavaScript and P5.js to create generative drawings, animated GIF loops, and interactive editions in which collectors help shape the final piece. He trained in psychology and cognitive science, worked as a web designer from 1999, and turned to generative art as his primary medium in 2015.
On the platform EditArt.xyz, Mercier released Quanta in 2025, a piece coded in P5.js around a grid of fields that morph and interact, which collectors could tune through five sliders to generate one of 100 editions. All 100 editions sold out in just over 24 hours.Mercier described the work saying “the grid is not a boundary, it’s a field”.In November 2025 Quanta was shown in the “Art After Dark” show at Soma Art Space during the Art on Tezos festival in Berlin, presented by EditArt.
Mercier explored synchronicity — the idea, developed by psychologist Carl Jung and physicist Wolfgang Pauli, that unrelated events can be meaningfully connected — in Dysphasing Syndrome, one of his first releases on fxhash. He returned to 3D P5.js techniques from 2019, developed while teaching generative design to students without coding backgrounds, for Sculpted Flow. After he began publishing on Rodeo.club in August 2024, he had released 526 short looping GIFs coded in P5.js, collected a total of 6,732 times by August 17, 2025.In February 2025 Mercier released var i(ant) via fxhash on the Base network, an edition of 300 priced at 0.001 ETH.
