Pixelord is a Russian artist and musician based in Moscow whose practice moves between digital visual art and electronic music production. His visual work has moved from vaporwave and post-internet web art toward surrealistic 3D collage, drawing on artists such as Salvador Dalí and Hieronymus Bosch.
Pixelord was born in Novosibirsk and today lives and works in Moscow. He trained in the video game industry using the 3D software Maya, then worked as a 3D designer for television and advertising before moving into sound design and music production.In 2012 he performed at Save Festival in Moscow, part of an electronic music and DJ lineup.Between 2013 and 2016 he also made vaporwave and post-internet web art, before shifting his focus toward music.In 2018 he performed at CTM Festival in Berlin, where his set was described as combining dystopian science-fiction and video game aesthetics with a mix of IDM, UK bass and glitch.
Renewed interest in NFTs brought Pixelord back to visual art, learning tools such as Cinema 4D to create looping visuals paired with his music.In 2021 he released a collaborative NFT with the artist Ilya Kazakov.
