Piero, known online as Pifragile and by the full name Piero Guicciardi, is a software engineer and generative artist. He began working in generative art after hearing about NFTs, teaching himself to code image generators in Python, and went on to release a series of FxHash collections named 0x, using Swiss German words for numbers such as 0xVier and 0xSaechs.
His creation process starts from a clear vision that stays open to change along the way, and when ideas run out he randomizes core parameters of his code to find surprises. 0xVier, inspired by the abstract painter Frederick Hammersley, sold out in under two minutes. 0xSaechs continued 0xVier and drew on the work of Gary Andrew Clarke. Among his favorite generative artists he has named Shvembldr and Andreas Rau, whose piece Loom was one of the first he encountered on fxhash.
He founded EditArt, a generative art platform on the Tezos blockchain, launching it in September 2022 as what he later called a bear market experiment that grew out of the aftermath of the 2021 crypto crash.,The platform's minting interface has five unlabeled sliders, and each collector who mints a piece is recorded on-chain as its co-creator and receives a share of future secondary sales.By August 2025, EditArt had drawn more than 40 artists, hosted 64 series, drawn more than 1,000 co-creators, and produced more than 12,000 co-created artworks. On EditArt, Guicciardi also released his own work, including dissect, the platform's seventh playground release and its first built around a single click rather than sliders.,He also built 16 SQUARES, another minimal, fully on-chain generative art project on Tezos, in which pieces are composed from 16 squares arranged across the canvas.
Guicciardi has also contributed prompts to Genuary, a generative art community challenge, with EditArt hosting the resulting daily pieces throughout the month. In 2023 he collaborated with Julian Hespenheide on a piece for the event's collaborative day, #GenuaryTogether. With Andre Fuchs and Studio Yorktown, he worked to build Re-tain, a Tezos platform that lets artists deploy generative art on their own personal smart contracts.
