Petra is a new media artist working at the intersection of contemporary dance, digital art and emerging technologies. Trained in dance and choreography before developing a sustained practice in creative coding, she creates choreographic systems in which human movement dialogues with algorithmic processes, artificial intelligence and interactive environments.
Her performance history includes work as a dancer with the Ballet Folklórico de Guadalajara, Ballet de Jalisco and Mexico's national dance-festival network INBAL.Petra also performs as part of Camino de Tres, an interdisciplinary collective with D'Enirio Pérez and Bobi J. Morris that combines contemporary dance, generative technology and contemplative practice.In her solo work Bodies That Dance Alone, AI video errors applied to real dance footage produce grotesque, gravity-defying figures set to a glitch-based soundtrack, using the instability of machine-learning tools as creative material. The piece was selected for Interfaccia Digitale at Hangartfest in Italy and for EIVV 2025 at the Maddalena Performing Art Center.
In Sovereign Bodies, an interactive installation shown at the CVPR Art Gallery in 2026, an AI agent turns human movement into data. Using local language models, motion analysis and generative AI, it orchestrates an automated flow of film and visual effects that questions surveillance, agency and creation in the digital era.Her AI film Conexiones Invisibles: entre sueños y Nouns won Best AI Film at the Absurd Film Festival in Milan in 2024. She was a selected artist in the 2024 season of Daily.xyz, an artist program curated by Alejandro Cartagena.
