Pētersons, the professional name of Reinis Pētersons, is a Latvian multimedia artist and illustrator who has worked internationally since 2000. Trained in classical painting and visual communication at the Latvian Academy of Arts, his practice spans illustration, animation, stage design, web art and experimental video. Since late 2024 his work has shifted toward analog video and glitch processes that treat the CRT screen and oscilloscope as image-generating instruments.
He has illustrated more than 45 books and has worked as a stage designer at the Latvian Puppet Theatre since 2010. His charcoal-animated short Ursus, made at the studio AtomArt in 2011, was screened internationally and received several awards, including the Best First Film Zlatko Grgić Award at Animafest Zagreb in Croatia and the FIPRESCI International Film Critics Award at Latvia's Lielais Kristaps National Film Festival.
