As Pearl Hyacinth, she has built virtual-world pieces under the title FOXP2, translating the sound waveforms of animal voices recorded during her UNSW research into visual form.^2,3 One version, showing the waveforms of black swans, was built in New Art City in 2023,² while another, using the voices of flying foxes in Sydney, was built on Styly and shown at ISEA Brisbane in 2024.³

Owen holds an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts, an MA in Environmental Arts and Humanities, and a BA in photography,¹ and was represented by the Elizabeth Leach Gallery in Portland for 22 years.¹ She has held ten artist residency fellowships internationally, including in Paris, Austria, Iceland, Switzerland, and Quebec.¹ Her hand cut collage works include East West, made in 2005 by cutting together images of different countries from the Lands and Peoples book series,⁴ and Pearls and Hibiscus, made in New Orleans in 2018 and later printed as a stamp edition by the Portland Stamp Company.⁵
