Paul Seidler is a Berlin-based artist and researcher whose work focuses on economic systems, decentralized programs, and computation. He is a founding member of terra0, a collective of developers, theorists, and artists.Their project gives a forest its own economic agency: a smart contract lets it sell its own wood and use the proceeds to buy new land, expanding its territory.,
Seidler formed terra0 with Max Hampshire and Paul Kolling, and in 2018 the collective installed Flowertokens at the Berlin space Trust, a piece that demanded such heavy maintenance that it was shut down after its plants overgrew the structure and began to wither.terra0 was included in “New World Order”, a Furtherfield-curated group exhibition that toured from London to Aksioma Project Space in Ljubljana. The collective later applied to GnosisDAO for funding to continue the project, but the proposal did not pass.
With Hampshire, Seidler also works as Nascent, a production studio that examines alternative infrastructures. In 2021, working with Amy Ireland, Nascent created Temporal Secession — Timezone #1. In 2022 he released Straylight Protocol, an on-chain multiplayer game that invites collectors to interact with one another. His work has been shown or discussed at the 7th Athens Biennale, Schinkel Pavillon, Transmediale, the 58th Carnegie International, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art.In June 2023 he joined the researchers Laura Lotti and Wassim Alsindi for the panel Deep Salon #5: Cryptoeconomics and Artistic Practice in Berlin. In 2025 his work was included in “BANKABLE”, a group exhibition curated by Nina Roehrs for Basel Social Club.
