Patrice Orenes-Lerma, known as patxol, is a French generative artist, pen plotter artist, and photographer who uses code, mathematics, and robots to recreate emotions from simple geometric forms. His generative collections, coded in p5js, are typically released on the platform fxhash.
In 2022 he released the fxhash collections Velum and Altered.,Velum shifted his focus from line, which had defined most of his earlier work, to area, building shapes called 'wings' from guidelines and coloring them with a recurring set of palettes.Altered, also released in 2022, sold out within three minutes of its fxhash release.His series Fantasmagoria began as an exploration of shapes generated with noise and randomization, and grew darker as he was drawn to spookier iterations, inspired by the early phantasmagoria showmen Paul Philidor and Étienne-Gaspard Robertson.Traces, an exploration of movement inspired by motion blur in photography, uses lines traveling through obstacles to build scenes that sometimes resemble virtual landscapes, and also sold out within minutes of release. Its color palettes draw partly on his own analog photography, including a self-developed film photograph taken with a vintage Canon AE1 on Noirmoutier Island in France, and another shot in Courbevoie, near Paris, on expired Agfapan film with a Minolta XG-1.
His genesis collection on Bitcoin, Ordinal Dreams, celebrates the link between digital and physical art on the platform generative.xyz, and each purchase includes a physical pen-plotted print of the piece.In 2024 he co-founded ANSER, formerly called F4R, a business tool for decentralized social networks such as Farcaster.
