Pastelle (b. 1997) is a parametric artist based in Brooklyn, New York, working in generative abstraction. Using p5.js, GLSL shaders and HTML, he creates algorithmic systems that produce vibrant geometric compositions, and since 2023 has also used large language models as creative tools within that process.
Outside his art practice, Pastelle works as a Strategic Finance Analyst in the cryptocurrency sector.In the body of work he calls Pastelle Onchain, each token stores a complete generative algorithm directly on the Ethereum blockchain and renders as self-contained HTML rather than a fixed image. The collector can change the algorithm's seed to explore new visual outputs, while the underlying code and rules stay frozen as the artist set them.Works released this way include Resonance and Tactile.,
His first long-form generative series, Colonies, produces pieces with unique algorithmic formations.Nested Panes renders digital stained glass entirely in code and is presented on the platform Bootloader.In Homage to Vasarely, Pastelle recreates specific compositions by the artist Victor Vasarely in code, among them Vonal KSZ, 1974, and CTA 102, 1966.
