Parse/Error is the pseudonym of Fabien Bouchard, a self-taught French artist based in Marseille, in the south of France. He studied biology and new technologies before spending ten years creating and editing the web magazine UFUNK. His practice combines digital and generative art, virtual reality, 3D printing, connected objects, electronics and light in immersive, interactive installations that explore the interaction between humans, nature and technology.
In 2020 Parse/Error staged “Connected Objects / Disconnected Humans”, his first solo show, at La Galerie Visceral in Marseille, bringing together new pieces with works from the previous two years. The exhibition grouped connected objects that turn real-time data into light and sound, including the Earthquake Lamp, which pulses and rumbles in response to earthquakes recorded around the world by the IRIS seismological network, and the Political Lamp, a cloud-shaped lamp that flashes with simulated lightning each time one of its monitored Twitter accounts, including Donald Trump's, posts a new message.
