WILLARD is a generative artist, working under the handle ordinarywillard, whose practice is described as an exploration of “the poetic depth of ordinary things”.,His work draws on ordinary scenes and objects but evokes emotions such as whimsy and sonder. He began minting on fxhash in the fall of 2022 before releasing work on OpenSea and SuperRare.
In October 2022 his Ordinary Places collection on fxhash generated 11,900 Tezos, about $16,600, in mint sales within four days, one of five generative art collections on fxhash that together brought in more than $145,000 in that span.That same month Willard announced The First Snow on SuperRare, a Genesis piece he said “explores the pictorial construction of landscape”.He has also released generative work on Art Blocks, including Theoretical Townships and Hodler's Collective.
In September 2023 Willard joined BlankEmbrace, ElsifThen, Nat Sarkissian, nocellcoverage and Wrenn in “Between Heaven and Earth”, a Foundation world curated by Forever Projects featuring generative and AI art exploring where the terrestrial meets the celestial in digitally rendered landscapes.In November 2023 Foundation named him and William Stallwood as the debut artists for its new generative art partnership with Highlight, produced by Forever Projects.
