Omar Lobato is a Brazilian programmer, digital artist and music producer who creates abstract generative art from noise algorithms, points and grids explored through texture, flow and motion. He is from Minas Gerais, Brazil, and moved from a small town to the city of Belo Horizonte. He began working in the browser-based tool Hydra before moving to the generative library p5.js.
His genesis piece on fx(hash), Are u mine, was released on Tezos. In early 2022 he released a run of related pieces built on the same underlying algorithm — radium, illusions and odium — each a variation on a shared visual system. He has said he chose Tezos and fx(hash) for their low transaction fees and active community of generative artists, having discovered the network through Hic et Nunc.
