Nyla Hayes is a digital artist who creates Long Neckie, colorful portraits of women with long necks inspired by her love of the Brontosaurus. She began drawing at age four, moved into digital art at nine, and released her first Long Neckie NFTs in 2021 after her uncle introduced her mother to the technology.
By February 2022 her collection Long Neckie Ladies, comprising 3,333 pieces, had sold more than 1,573 ETH — over $4 million — through OpenSea. In October 2021 TIME's NFT initiative TIMEPieces named her its first artist in residence. Three months later she released Long Neckie Women of the Year, a 1,000-piece TIMEPieces collection that drew on the visual style of Long Neckie Ladies. In an interview she discussed using art to cope with difficult emotions, cited Frida Kahlo as an inspiration, and credited her family's support for her practice.
