NOR44 is a digital and AI mixed-media artistwho has worked in digital art since 1985 and in generative and interactive art since around 2000.Their practice draws on Chinese and Japanese art, calligraphy and typography, graffiti and street art, and modernist and mid-century design.
On the generative art platform fxhash, NOR44 released CMYK:RND, which uses code to continually produce new faces and compositions styled after print-ready graphic elements, giving the work a tactile, less digital feel. One reviewer described the resulting cast of faces as having a “diversity and inclusion touch”.NOR44 also releases work on SuperRare, Foundation, Highlight, and Objkt, and has exhibited in New York, Tokyo, Paris, Lisbon, and London.
In January 2023 their work was included in the group exhibition “bad glitches only” at Superchief Gallery in the Oculus at the World Trade Center in New York.NOR44 has also contributed segment music to the podcast Waiting To Be Signed.
