Noortje Stortelder is a Dutch sculptor and multimedia artist based in Rotterdam, working across sculpture, photography, animation and AI-generated imagery.,Her compositions explore liminal spaces, balancing dark and light, unity and fragmentation, and the physical and digital, often depicting the human body and classical figures through fragmented, alienated frames.
Stortelder has a background in advertising and design and works in an interdisciplinary art practice.She describes herself as a digital sculptor and art teacher,and her work has included video and performance pieces such as The Road (2019), a slow-motion cabinet of curiosities,and visual content created for techno-jazz musical performances by Connor Schumacher at Dansateliers Rotterdam.In 2021 her public sculpture Lellebel was commissioned by RORO, the Rotterdam Organisation for Spatial Objects, for the City of Rotterdam,and her work was featured in Poets & Writers Magazine in the United States.The following year she exhibited at Art Basel Miami.,
Her work Self-Portrait Emerging From Mud, paired with a text by Bren Booth-Jones, was released on SuperRare.In 2023 she paired with poet Amalia Moreno on Canción del Optimista for theVERSEverse's series Poesía de Protesta,which pairs fifteen Hispanic women poets with visual artists to explore protest through themes including gendered violence, exile and fragmented identities.The collection's second edition opened at “Proof of People x Refraction” in New York that year.That year she also exhibited in “HOMAGE”, a group show honoring Constantin Brâncuși at the Craiova Art Museum in Romania,,and in “AI Surrealism” at the World Trade Center in New York.,
In 2024 her work entered the permanent collection of the Mad Arts Museum in Florida and was featured in Tableau Magazine's coverage of new technology in art. She went on to exhibit at NEORT++ in Tokyo and at TezDev in Cannes in 2025.
