Nicolas Daniel is a French artist and creative coder who produces generative artworks in Javascript, Python, and Blender, output across screens, prints, plotters, and projections.,His background in computer science led him to explore what he calls “the surprising possibilities of collaboration with machines”. He is based in Nantes, France.
Daniel earlier worked as a VJ and projection artist in Montreal, Canada, contributing visuals to Montreal's Mural Festival and the Minute Mapping series between 2018 and 2020.In 2021 he and Han released AlgoRhythms on Art Blocks, a generative audio project credited to the duo.,In October 2025 AlgoRhythms was included among seventeen landmark projects in “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs on Art Blocks”, curated by Kate Vass at the AB Gallery in Marfa, Texas.
In 2022 he released AlgoBeats on Art Blocks and Surprise, a generative collection of one hundred pieces in which each token's seed drives rules for cube subdivision, animation, and color.,He has described Surprise as capturing “an emotion you can feel when you discover something unexpected”.In 2023 and 2024 he showed Destructures on fxhash and Compositions Destructurées and Newtab at Galerie Data in Paris.In April 2024 his piece System 1b was created live at the Bright Moments finale event in Venice, part of a collaborative on-chain work drawing on sixty artists across the platform's ten-city tour.,
