Nicolas Bets is a Belgian fashion photographer known for a bold, color-saturated style that fuses fashion and photography around themes of femininity, cinema and glamour. After discovering NFTs through a friend, he began translating his photography onto the blockchain, pairing traditional fashion imagery with digital ownership. He has described his images as a celebration of joy, aiming to evoke delight and lightness in the people who encounter them.
Born in Belgium, he moved to Paris at seventeen to follow his mother into photography, and graduated from photography school after a single year. For seven years he worked alongside photographers including Claus Wickrath and Jean-Daniel Lorieux, an apprenticeship he has credited with shaping his technique and style.,He has named Robert Doisneau, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton among the photographers who shaped his eye for staged, frozen moments. Over three decades he has shot campaigns for brands including Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Kenzo and Chanel, alongside work for film posters and magazines, and exhibited in galleries internationally.
In May 2024 he presented the third instalment of Curlers and Spider in Los Angeles on SuperRare, a photo series that sets pop-culture figures such as Spider-Man within staged compositions inspired by Los Angeles. The shoot took four months of preparation and a seven-person team travelling from Paris to Los Angeles for three weeks of production. The NFTs, minted on Ethereum, included digital time capsules that let collectors attach a personal message to the work, permanently recorded on the blockchain.
