Newyellow, known in Chinese as 黃新, is a Taiwanese artist and creative coder who has worked in interactive new media since 2014.,Since 2021 he has focused on blockchain and NFT art, releasing generative collections on fxhash, Objkt and Teia.His generative systems often turn found source material, from historical paintings to street plants and stacked chairs, into rule-based, ever-changing images.,,
Newyellow began creating AR work in 2017 and has since won several Meta global contests. He has also served as Meta Spark's official teaching partner in Taiwan.
In Overstacked, released on fxhash in 2022, a randomly generated chair is replicated a hundred times into an unstable stack that collapses when the viewer clicks.In Succulent, a recursive block-division algorithm fills a canvas with potted plants built from randomly generated leaves and stroke textures. The piece was shown as a real-time generative installation in “The Future Life, Future You – Digital, Machine and Cyborgs” at Jut Museum.
For A Dance with History, Newyellow analysed more than 30,000 images in the Finnish National Gallery's collection with a pose-tracking system, then built a generative system that blends gestures drawn from historical paintings into smooth, dance-like transitions. The piece was created for Combine24, a generative art competition organised by the Finnish National Gallery, and was the only shortlisted entry from Asia among roughly 100 submissions from 47 countries.The ten shortlisted works, including his, were shown in “Remix the Archive” at Alusta Space in Helsinki from September to November 2024.,His work has also been shown at MoCA Taipei.
