Neoformix is the practice of Jeff Clark, a Canadian data visualization artist and programmer who turns large datasets into visually compelling images and interactive tools. He started Neoformix as a personal blog in 2006 and grew it into a full-time business specializing in custom data visualization.
Clark was born and raised in Windsor, Canada, studied Applied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, and has worked as a professional programmer for about twenty-five years.Obama Word Portrait, from 2008, built a portrait of Barack Obama out of repeated text fragments — 'HOPE', 'CHANGE' and 'YES WE CAN' — arranged in varying shades and sizes.In 2010, Harvard Business Review profiled four of his Twitter visualization tools in a piece called Four Ways of Looking at Twitter, written by Scott Berinato.One of those tools, Spot, is a real-time interactive Twitter visualization that represents tweets as particles and groups them by shared words, topics, timing, or sender.
Clark has continued a generative art practice into the NFT era, releasing the collection Flowers and Sky on the platform fxhash.
