Nathan A. Bauman is an elopement and wedding photographer born and raised in Northeastern Ohio who works primarily in analog film. He describes his approach as documentary and photojournalistic, letting couples experience their day with minimal interruption from the camera. He has photographed weddings and elopements across the United States, including in Montana, Oregon, California and New Hampshire.
He has described feeling a strong emotional connection each time he presses the shutter, ever since buying his first camera. In one elopement, he photographed a couple at Headlands Beach State Park in Ohio, a coastline he had shot before for a personal project and an engagement session. For an engagement shoot in New York City, he worked in 35mm analog film, spending several hours moving between a couple's Upper West Side neighborhood and the wider city by subway as the light faded.
