Murat Atimtay is a new media artist and creative technologist who builds algorithmic systems, interactive installations, and plotter-based works exploring memory, computation, and unstable infrastructures. He began as a tattoo artist in 2001, later developing a style he calls Heliantone that fuses tattooing with algorithm-generated imagery and won the Best Small Tattoo award at the 2019 Frankfurt Tattoo Convention.,
His interest in programming deepened during the pandemic, leading him into NFTs. He released work on Ethereum and Tezos before his generative series Blueprints brought him to Bitcoin.Conceived as a homage to the generative art pioneers Vera Molnár and Herbert W. Franke, Blueprints builds unstable architectural diagrams from just three elements: rectangles, lines, and symmetry.,Blueprints was released through Gamma, a Bitcoin Ordinals platform, on January 3, the anniversary of Bitcoin's Genesis Block, and sold out in under five minutes.,Atimtay has said the permanence of inscribing generative art onto Bitcoin appealed to him. He has described the protocol's constraints as sharpening his process: “You're forced to distill your work to its essence... There's no room for excess, and I love that constraint.”His second Bitcoin Ordinals project, Pulseforms, is inscribed with a lifespan of 1,024 to 4,096 blocks and evolves on-chain, generating an evolving soundscape he calls a chant.,
In Anthill Tapestry, rectangles are placed, repeated, and rounded until their corners soften into a woven, organism-like structure inspired by the hidden complexity of ant colonies.Liminal Strata grew out of a personal confrontation with his own mortality, coding layered structures that mirror how memory folds, fragments, and resurfaces over time.Woven Algorithm grew from his childhood among the kilims and rugs of Anatolia, where he later found the same diamonds and hooked edges reappearing in his plotter-drawn generative patterns.Atimtay credits early generative art pioneers including Vera Molnár, Manfred Mohr, Georg Nees, Frieder Nake, and A. Michael Noll as central influences on his practice.
His work has been shown at venues including the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, Times Square in New York, and Berlin Blockchain Week.Woven Algorithm was exhibited at the Noise Media Art Fair in Istanbul in September 2025.,
