Mit Borrás is a Madrid and Berlin-based visual artist who makes video, digital art, performances and installations about the relationship between humanity, nature and technology. His work portrays post-human consciousness and draws on transhumanist philosophy. He treats adaptation as a way of surpassing the categorical limits of existence. He worked with Rachel Lamot, who led the art direction of the Adaptasi Cycle.
The cycle includes the works Adaptasi, Arcyria, Heavven and Phantom Limb. It uses images of isolated characters surrounded by technology and nature to show a world where the synthetic and the organic coexist. The cycle was exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in 2022. His works typically unfold in serene, aseptic spaces akin to soft caves, in soft pastel colors, which he describes as a “metaphysical limbo”. In his installations he aims to give audiences an immersive experience through light, soft materials, sounds and aromas. In a 2023 conversation with the artist Jesse Draxler, he described shamanism as a profound influence on his work and said AI is still just a tool.
