MiraRuido is the artistic name of Joseba Elorza, a Spanish collage artist and animator born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Basque Country.,He cuts and reassembles fragments of the familiar world into images that feel simultaneously recognizable and impossible, moving between the quietly surreal and the more playful or editorial.
Elorza trained and worked as a sound technician while practicing collage as a hobby, gradually shifting toward sight over sound until he was able to make a living as an illustrator and animator.,Over nearly two decades his illustrations have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Esquire, and The Hollywood Reporter, and he has directed animated pieces and music videos for clients including National Geographic, Amazon Studios, Warner Music, and Green Day.He minted his first NFT, Let There Be Light, on Foundation in early 2021, and that October he sold Inside Worlds No. 3 for 14 ETH on SuperRare, an all-time high for his work at the time.
His series Life, from 2022, casts birth, play, work, and death as stages of a continuum organized around a recurring Monolith motif, while its companion series Death represents death as skulls rendered in different materials, among them Gold Death, Silver Death, Bronze Death, and Marble Death.,The series Inside Worlds, begun during the pandemic in 2021 to capture the inner worlds people built while confined to their homes, expanded into the larger series Roomscapes, which places natural landscapes inside collaged domestic rooms.,He works primarily in Photoshop and After Effects, citing classic collagists and surrealist painters such as Magritte alongside science fiction as influences.He also created Virtual Visions of Freedom, Meme Card #134 from Season 4 of The Memes by 6529.,
