Mime is a French artist based in Paris and Tours who works primarily in collage. After studying art market design and contemporary art, he taught himself collage, a hobby that became an obsession. He sources faces and busts from second-hand books and fashion photoshoots, drawing on Egyptian aesthetics, antiquity and architecture.
Mime alternates between classical paper collages and animated pieces, filming stop-motion sequences of moving materials and objects from above without showing his hands. He has described his work as an attempt to capture human flaws through antique subjects: “Antique civilizations inspire me and serve as my subjects, representing identities both universal and eternal in a contemporary context.”His STEEL 01 collage, based on a fashion portrait of Lera Abova found in an old magazine, combines the image with an analog paint flow drawn across a path of silver powder, and was minted on Hic et Nunc.
Mime has taken part in several Paris group exhibitions, including “ANALOG COLLAGE ART” at Bliss Studio in September 2019, “CORPS ET VARIATIONS” at La Rotonde Stalingrad in May 2019, and “CECI N'EST TOUJOURS PAS UNE EXPO” at Antigalerie in May 2019. In 2021 his work was shown in the group exhibition “Miserichordia Archives” at ITS LIQUID in Venice, and in Paris exhibitions at Le Genie de la Bastille and Parc Floral with the association Des-Fig.
