Miles Peyton is an artist based in Los Angeles working across sculpture, solar and optical installation, and generative code.,In 2015, Peyton's PartsPartsParts, a sweater printed with fragments of crowdsourced body parts and faces, was translated into augmented reality for the exhibition “Blastosphere: Digital Art Becomes 3D Fashion” at Ace Hotel's gallery in New York.
In 2022, Peyton co-founded Galerie Yeche Lange with Jared Madere and Wretched Worm, an online gallery that sold Ethereum-minted work through a web-based viewing environment Peyton helped build as the project's developer.,
A later installation, neither, projects a solar-powered liquid lens using water, sunlight, silicone oil, laser-etched conductive glass, lenses, 3D-printed plastic, and electronics, accompanied by scheduled live streams timed to peak sunlight. Its project text recounts the story of Bathybius, mud unearthed from the ocean floor by workers aboard the cable-laying ship Cyclops and named by a biologist who believed it was a primordial living organism, a claim later shown to result from a chemical reaction and reclassified as nonlife.Peyton also builds generative software tools, including Plim, which renders worm-like forms through adjustable physics parameters for motion, bending, and self-collision.
