Karolos entered design through graffiti before studying graphic design at Middlesex University.^2,3 He worked at the Athens design agencies Creative Printshop and in8 creative design before establishing himself as a freelance illustrator, working in branding, packaging and logo design for clients worldwide.^4,5

His self-initiated series Abstracts 101 comprises 15 works built from bold black lines and simple geometric forms, developed as an exercise in reducing scenes and objects to their essentials.¹ Destination: Greece, a stamp collection begun in 2016, renders Greek islands, ancient landmarks, beaches and traditional food in the same illustrative, abstract style.⁶ His illustrations Greece is Athens and Greece is Dodecanese, commissioned for the Greece Is travel magazines distributed with Kathimerini newspaper and the international edition of the New York Times, were shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards.³
