Bio
Mike Karolos (b. 1984), also known as Smirap Designs, is a graphic designer and illustrator whose personal work applies bold black outlines and flat colour to geometric, pop-art-inflected compositions inspired by Piet Mondrian, the De Stijl movement and Pop Art. Born in Manchester, England, he has lived his whole life in Greece and is based in Athens.
Karolos entered design through graffiti before studying graphic design at Middlesex University. He worked at the Athens design agencies Creative Printshop and in8 creative design before establishing himself as a freelance illustrator, working in branding, packaging and logo design for clients worldwide.
