Mikado Koko is a Japanese musician, poet, and AI artist who founded the AI music label Ogive.,She began her career in 2017 as a club music producer drawing on elements of Japanese traditional music, before moving toward avant-garde poetry reading and post-genre composition.Described as neurodivergent, she works across generative digital art and music, producing work that blends technology with poetry and sound.,
On Caliban Sounds, in association with One Little Independent Records, she released the album Songs To Our Other Selves, a reworking of Penny Rimbaud's 1984 album Acts of Love. Acts of Love set fifty short poems to contemporary classical music, performed by Eve Libertine and Paul Ellis and accompanied by fifty collages by the artist Gee Vaucher. She reworked twenty of the album's tracks using generative cut-up algorithms, an idea that came to her, in her words, “while making generative art NFT”. Her adaptations keep Libertine's vocal performances at the center while introducing glitching, mind-bending electronic elements that push the original recordings toward something more surreal.
Beyond that release, she has put out music through labels including One Little Independent, Parallel Label, and Loot Recordings, among others.Her digital art is represented by Loupe, a streaming art platform.
