Micah Alhadeff (b. 1992) is an artist who works with 3D animation, AI, code and game engines to introduce error and instability into technological systems, corrupting the familiar into forms that slip between the organic, the mechanical and the artificial. Drawing on glitch aesthetics, queer theory and video game culture, he treats technology as an engine for mutation and worldbuilding rather than a mirror of reality.
He holds an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts from Alfred University's New York State College of Ceramics, a BFA in Graphic Design and a BA in Art History and Art Criticism, both from Colorado State University, and is Assistant Professor of Kinetic Imaging in the Gwen Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.,He began minting NFTs after quitting a bartending job for money, and found the practice opened an audience beyond the insular feedback loops of art school, connecting him with digital artists internationally.
In 2023, he created installation-happenings for the Decentraland Music Festival, part of a broader turn that year toward the metaverse as a medium for collaborative, performance-based art.In December 2024, his piece Spined Venus, a walking figure fused with flora and fauna, appeared in “Soft Mutations - On Alienation as Transformation”, a group show curated by Diane Drubay for Blueshift Gallery at ArtVerse Paris and objkt.one that imagined multispecies, human-animal hybrid futures.
He later joined the second cohort of the objkt Labs Residency, releasing Contestants for a Pageant That No Longer Exists, a series of AI-assisted 3D characters combining AI image generation, 3D modeling, TouchDesigner and analog video synthesis. Rather than using AI as a shortcut, he treats it as one stage in a longer pipeline, letting each tool's own distortions compound until the resulting figures mutate beyond what he could plan from the outset.
