Bio

Mera Takeru (Japanese, b. 1990) is a self-taught crypto artist based in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, whose work combines the philosophy of blockchain with Japanese culture. In April 2019 he began making NFT art on the iOS application Editional, becoming, by his own account, the first Japanese person to do so.

Inspired by his heritage and Shintoism, he revisits symbols of Japan such as Japanese prints, sublimating everyday scenes into crypto art. His work has been officially certified on the platforms SuperRare, KnownOrigin, and MakersPlace, and he has sold more than 2,000 pieces for a total transaction volume, including secondary sales, exceeding 300 ETH. In 2023 he held a solo exhibition at NFT Factory Paris, running from May 31 to June 10. Right Click Save has counted him among Japan's long-standing crypto artists who engaged with NFTs early, alongside pixel artists Hermippe, mae, and Kazuki Takakura and the collective Excalibur.
