Matty Mariansky is an artist and entrepreneur working at the intersection of machine learning and generative art, based in a studio in Tel Aviv.,A graduate engineer of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, he designed some of Israel's most prominent websites and founded several artificial intelligence startups before becoming a full-time artist in 2021.
He lectures on artificial intelligence in the MFA program at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, and in 2018 founded Rise of the Machines, a Facebook community exploring the intersection of AI and culture that grew into one of the largest of its kind in Israel.,
Several of his projects stage a dialogue between two algorithms, one that generates marks and a second, an art critic, that evaluates and refines them, as in Hidden Birds (2021), where the pair negotiate whether a color-stain drawing is convincingly bird-like.A related process underlies Evolutionary Face (2020), in which a curve generator evolves line drawings toward face-likeness, hovering at the edge of both machine and human recognition.In Evra (2022), made with Dr. Eyal Gruss, generated forms are used to inscribe text from the Sefer Yetzirah, the Book of Creation, onto clay.In 2022 he released Para Bellum on Art Blocks Curated, a project built on a language engine trained on books about rebellion and anarchy that generates mostly nonexistent English phrases, rendered in an on-chain font over abstract, fuzzy color fields.,Para Bellum was later included in “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs on Art Blocks”, a survey of twenty artists shown at Art Blocks' Marfa Weekend in 2025.His 2024 project A Science of Escape explores the interplay between control and liberation, asking whether there is room in a system for glitches that let choice triumph over destiny.
